SC Service Learning Teams Host Weekend Retreat

Service learning teams from Southwestern College teamed up with Camp Horizon director Joel Wilke and hosted almost 80 students and 20 youth pastors from around the state for a fall retreat held at Camp Horizon Sept. 29-30.

The goal for the retreat was to provide a service for busy youth pastors and high school students interested in learning more about servant leadership and at the same time introduce students to Southwestern College as a potential option after high school.

Students build rain barrels with SC Green Team

The service learning groups’ participation included:

·       Green Team Southwestern members led the students in a service project building rain barrels to be installed at the camp

·       Leadership Southwestern led a development workshop on servant leadership and a planning session for the youth groups/churches.

·       Discipleship/Worship Outreach held a Sunday morning worship service.
